CAA Drops Shia LaBeouf Following Sexual Battery Claims

Transformers star Shia LaBeouf has been dropped by talent agency CAA months after allegations of sexual abuse and battery surfaced. On December 11, his former girlfriend FKA Twigs filed a lawsuit against the 34-year-old actor for alleged “relentless abuse," including sexual battery, assault and emotional distress. The suit also claims the actor knowingly gave her an STD.

Karolyn Pho, another former girlfriend of LaBeouf’s, is also named in the lawsuit as having been allegedly abused by the actor. LaBeouf reportedly checked into inpatient treatment a month ago when he decided to step away from acting. He remains in treatment, although it is unclear what he is being treated for.

LaBeouf has a history of erratic and violent behavior. On June 26, 2014, he was arrested at New York City's Studio 54 theater and charged with disorderly conduct, harassment, and criminal trespass. He was reportedly "acting disorderly, yelling and being loud." After the incident, the actor voluntarily sought outpatient treatment for alcoholism and pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct.

On July 8, 2017, LaBeouf was arrested in downtown Savannah, Georgia, at around 4 a.m. for public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and obstruction. Bodycam footage showed LeBeouf making "profanity-laced racial remarks" towards police officers during his arrest.

He later blamed the incident on his alcohol addiction. After pleading no contest to the charge of disorderly conduct in October 2017, LaBeouf was found guilty of obstruction but was found not guilty of public intoxication. He was sentenced to one year of probation, ordered to pay a $1,000 fine, and seek treatment for his anger and substance abuse issues.

In September 2020, LaBeouf was charged with misdemeanor battery and petty theft for his involvement in an altercation with a man in June of that year. Four months later, he was sued by Twigs, whom he dated from 2018 to 2019, for sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress. In his response, LaBeouf said he had been "abusive" to himself and those around him "for years" and that he was "ashamed" and "sorry to those [he] hurt."
